Yellen Park

The Yellen Family donated 24 acres to the City of Palmdale for the City to develop a 24- park. It wasn’t until June 1, 2017, that the City developed the first phase comprised of 12 acres. We had to wait 17 years to only get half of what not only we were promised. I have been successful in securing funding for shade structures at Yellen Park thru reaching across the aisle and asking for funding from Los Angeles County Regional Park and Open Space District for Fifth Supervisorial District Proposition “A” Excess Funding, for Yellen Park shade structures thanks to Supervisor Barger. Funds are also available for the construction of the sidewalk along Hillcrest Street at the east end of Yellen Park which also provides a Safe Route to School to Buena Vista Elementary students (May 5, 2018 CC Item 9.1), I have successfully made available to my constituents a secluded one-acre open space to the residents of District 4 along 47 th Street East between Avenue R-2 and Avenue R- 4. Park amenities to come soon,
